Monte Verità

Monte Verità rises on the hills above Ascona and Lake Maggiore, and has always been a magnetic pole of convergence of ideas, trends, experiments and historical figures.

The Congressi Stefano Franscini is a division of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETH Zürich), responsible for the financial and administrative promotion and selection of international conferences, workshops, ETH doctoral schools and situated in the south of Switzerland (Canton Ticino) at Monte Verità.

How to get there

By shuttle bus:

A free shuttle bus (8-​seater) to Monte Verità will be available on Sunday, June 11, for participants of the conference. The shuttle bus will depart from Locarno railway station at 11:20, 12:00, 12:40, 13:20, 14:00, and 14:40. The shuttle bus stops next to the end of platform 4 (close to where public transport is leaving). Look for the white bus with the Monte Verità logo.

By public transport:

There is only one public bus to Monte Verità on Sunday, June 11, to arrive in time for the start of the conference: bus nr. 316 from Locarno railway station at 11:49 to Ascona Via Medere, change to bus nr. 5 (departs at 12:06) to Ascona Monte Verità.

If you don't mind walking a bit, you can take bus nr. 1 from Locarno railway station (departs every 15 min) to Ascona Centro. From there you can reach Monte Verità in about 20 minutes on foot (uphill), see map.

By car:

Exit Ascona/Losone. Continue on Viale Monte Verità (direction Ascona Center). Turn right onto Strada Collina and follow the directions to Monte Verità. There are free parking spaces.

By taxi:

There are several taxis available at Locarno railway station. The cheapest rates are usually with Ecotaxi.
